Big Rig Rescue II - Training - DSFS Dover, DE
Friday, September 16, 2011
During the last few days of Convention week (September 15 -16th), 8 members of the OFC attended 2 days of hands on “Big Rig Rescue II” training. The members and officers were taught by Billy Leach, Jr. of Asheboro, N.C.” who is well know in the Big Rig Rescue extrication process. Mr. Leach has taught all over the US. The course taught the members from the OFC how to use the ”5 Step Discipline” for overturned trucks and under-rides. The members were taught and learned how to perform advanced stabilization of large trucks using timber, struts, and “cradling”, extricate victims from under overturned box trailers, loaded cement mixers, garbage trucks, dump trucks, and fundamentals of winching. The course was very informative and helped the membership understand what is available in our county along with Kent County. The course was provided by the DFVA free of charge and held at the Delaware State Fire School in Dover, DE.
