Station 4/24, Ladder & Engine 1/27, Tanker & Engine 26, Tanker Co. 29 was alerted at 1623 hours to a L3 Residential Fire at 599 Main Street, Odessa. Tanker-24 responded at 1627 hours with a crew of 4 under Command of 24-Captain-1 (Trincia) and found black smoke coming from the rear roof area of the residence. Command held the up-grade until a thorough investigation could be completed and the black smoke was actually coming from the chimney and not the roof it self. After checking the front & back doors and no one answering either one, Command advised Tanker-24 crew to force their way into the residence and they found two occupants who were asleep in the 2nd floor bedroom and they were assisted to safety, outside on the front sidewalk. Tanker-24 crew found the oil heater back firing and turn the power off to the unit and the black smoke subsided. Command held Station 4/24 unit and clear all other apparatus. Command was terminated at 1638 hours and returned Station 4/24 apparatus.
