On March 31, 2018 at 05:24 hours the OFC was alerted for an MVC with a rollover on Route 1 Northbound just north of Hyett's Corner. While units were enroute they learned the rollover vehicle was a New Castle County Police vehicle with the Officer still trapped. Units from Port Penn & Delaware City fire companies assisted the OFC with performing a roof removal to free the trapped Officer. The Police Officer was transported to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation. Route 1 remained closed for several hours following.
